Construction Continues Near Kirby Road & Kipling Avenue

Road Closure from Albion-Vaughan Rd to Cold Creek Rd to occur until Sept 9.

Since July 2018, the City of Vaughan is planning to undertake culvert works located near the intersection of Kirby Road & Kipling Avenue and the intersection of Kirby Road & Cold Creek Road.

Planned Construction

The scope of work includes the replacement of three (3) corrugated steel pipe (CSP) culverts, located near the intersection of Kirby Road and Kipling Avenue and the rehabilitation of one (1) concrete culvert structure, located on Kirby Road, west of Cold Creek Road. See Attachment 1.

Before construction begins, various underground utilities (e.g. Gas, Bell and Hydro) will be marked out using different colours of paint to mitigate potential conflicts during construction.

Construction Impact on Traffic

To allow the construction activities to occur in a safe, timely and efficient manner, full road closures will be in effect to facilitate the replacement and rehabilitation of each of the existing culvert. The anticipated schedule for the road closures is as follows:

  • Kipling Avenue from Kirby Road to approximately 200 metres south of Kirby Road, scheduled to occur between July 3 and 16, 2018
  • Kirby Road from Kipling Avenue to approximately 200 metres east of Kipling Avenue, scheduled to occur between July 30 and August 12, 2018
  • Kirby Road from Kipling Avenue to approximately 200 metres west of Kipling Avenue, scheduled to occur between August 27 and September 9
  • Kirby Road from Albion-Vaughan Road to Cold Creek Road, scheduled to occur between July 3 and August 31, 2018.

During these closures, detour routes will be signed accordingly to advise the travelling public.
